Job Overview:

As a Dental Treatment Coordinator, you will serve as the primary liaison between patients and the dental team, ensuring a smooth experience for new patients and those needing emergency or limited exams. You will be responsible for managing treatment planning, financial coordination, and patient communication, while also supporting the Office Manager in daily operations. This position also plays a key leadership role in the office, guiding team members and ensuring the highest level of patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Greet patients warmly and ensure they feel comfortable and cared for.

Escort patients to the operatory and review their medical history in detail.

Gather all necessary information for medical clearance (if applicable).

Discuss any current pain, complications, or dental concerns.

Inquire about their last dental cleaning and discuss their smile goals.

Capture diagnostic X-rays and perform a hygiene exam.

Treatment Planning:

Consult with the doctor to review the patient's health history, concerns, and treatment goals.

Capture an iTero wellness scan.

Sit in during the doctor’s exam and take detailed notes of all recommended treatments.

Create a treatment plan based on the doctor's findings, typically phased by quadrants, prioritizing urgent needs first.

Review the insurance portion of the treatment plan with the patient, checking for exclusions or limitations (e.g., missing tooth clause, same-day SRP).

Financial Coordination:

Offer and explain financing options, such as CareCredit or AcceptCare.

Offer same-day treatment when possible or schedule future appointments.

Operational Support:

Assist with operatory setup if same-day treatment is performed.

Ensure all necessary consent forms are completed and scanned into the system.

Assist the hygiene team with exams and treatment planning.

Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments as needed.

Follow up with patients who have pending, unscheduled treatment.

Track proposed and accepted treatment for each doctor.

Monitor production goals for each dentist and ensure targets are met.

Distribute new patient exams evenly across doctors.

Assist with check-in and check-out processes and help verify insurance information as needed.


Skills and Competencies:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and team members

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Proficiency in dental software, scheduling systems, and treatment plan calculators

Knowledge of dental procedures, insurance plans, and financial options

Ability to build trust with patients and inspire confidence in treatment plans

Qualifications

Requirements

 

Education and Certifications:

Required:

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License

X-ray Certification

CPR Certification

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

College coursework or a degree in a related field

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a dental setting

Experience with treatment planning, case presentation, and financial coordination is preferred

Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
