Colorado Oral Surgery Group located in Westminster, Colorado is seeking an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team full-time. Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 7:30am-5pm, Fridays 7:30am-2pm, occasional Wednesdays 7:30am-2pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the surgeon with general anesthesia and IV sedation procedures.
  • Obtain proper consent forms regarding surgery and update patient health history.
  • Set up surgical suite based on the type of procedure being planned.
  • Sterilize equipment and materials.
  • Prepare patients by obtaining and recording vital signs.
  • Inform patients of pre-op and post-op instructions.
  • Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and casts.
  • Maintain patient's vital statistics and intravenous fluids during surgery.
  • Document treatment by charting in patient's records.
  • Pass surgical tools, prepare surgical dressings, and assist with sutures/debris removal.
  • Ensure the patient does not breathe in fluids during the procedure through constant monitoring.
  • Protect the patient’s lips, cheeks, and tongue from unnecessary injury.
  • Help recover patients from sedation and anesthesia, ensuring they have a chaperone.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Oral Surgery
  • Ability to place IVs
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • Certified dental assistant preferred
  • Dental assisting experience
  • Willing to take direction from oral surgeon/office manager
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented
