Reports To: Registered Dental Hygienist / Practice Manager


Position Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and reliable Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will support our dental hygienists in delivering high-quality oral care to patients, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, and providing an exceptional patient experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist dental hygienists during patient procedures, including passing instruments and suctioning.

  • Prepare operatory for hygiene procedures: disinfect surfaces, set up trays, and ensure all instruments are sterilized.

  • Seat and prepare patients for treatment, taking initial vitals and reviewing medical history.

  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the practice management system.

  • Sterilize and maintain hygiene instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.

  • Monitor inventory and restock hygiene supplies as needed.

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices as instructed by the hygienist or dentist.

  • Ensure patient comfort throughout their visit and assist with patient flow.

  • Follow all safety and infection control procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Dental Assistant certification preferred (state-specific licensing may apply).

  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

  • Prior experience in a dental office is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate.

  • Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is a bonus.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Professional, friendly, and patient-focused demeanor.

Pay Range

USD $15.00 - USD $17.00 /Yr.
